The station will be permanently staffed with a police officer residing at the station and working in Koorawatha and surrounding areas.
The town has been without a permanent officer for about nine years.
Inspector Jacob Reeves of Young Police said he's hugely pleased.
"The police vehicle and equipment to recommission the station is ready to go. We've commenced an internal recruitment process to advertise the position and seek an officer to transfer and take up the role," Inspector Reeves said.
"Since I've been here it's been a priority. There's been a real push for the past 12 months to get it happening. The town of Koorawatha will be happy to have a police officer back in town."
He thanked the support of senior officers, administration and Properties NSW - the government department funding the project.
"NSW Police Force Deputy Commissioner Gary Worboys has a big focus and a very strong passion for small community policing and police being in small towns and communities, and wishes us to maintain and reopen police stations that have been out of commission for some time. I share that passion, and it's been a goal of mine to get Boorowa reestablished and Koorawatha.
"I've been doing all I can to make it happen. I'm thankful my passion is shared by the deputy commissioner and district and regional commander and the government."
The works may be finished as soon as April.
Meanwhile, the Koorawatha station escaped extensive fire damage over the weekend following an arson attempt.
A person has allegedly used an accelerant to light a fire which has caused minor damage.
An investigation has commenced and police are seeking information from witnesses or people who may be able to help.
Police are also seeking CCTV footage or dash cam footage in the area between 10pm and 1am on Sunday night.
Inspector Reeves said it was disappointing.
"Any members of the community that witnessed or have information ring Young detectives at the Young Police Station or ring Crime Stoppers. Any information will be extremely useful to us. I'm extremely confident the attempted arson is not reflective of community sentiment in Koorawatha and isn't reflective of the community as a whole," he said.
