Community rocked it in Greenethorpe

The sold out, all ages music event featured performances by Lusi Austin, Jesse and Axl, Josie Laver, Weak Cordial, Lisa Flanagan and Wishful Thinking.

Four young performers from the district also performed as the warm up act - vocalist Charlie Allen, drummer Louis Johnson, vocalist Amelia Squires and musician Tennyson Neville.

"We are in the midst of one of the worst droughts in history, and farmers and village residents alike are feeling the strain," event organiser Danielle Allen said.

"Combine this with the fact our local pub was closed for over 15 months - thankfully The Shamrock has recently re-opened - there has been very little opportunity for social interaction in Greenethorpe.

"We hoped that Rock Till It Rains would bring the community together, reduce isolation, give everyone something to focus on other than the drought, and to showcase the amazing local talent we have in our district".

"We have been overwhelmed by the support of the community.

"The event sold out in record time and we had a wait list of over 50 people.

"The evening was a huge success. All the performers were outstanding, and all guests had a great evening.

"We would like to thank everyone who attended, and most importantly our sponsors, Conron Stockcrete, Elders, NSW Farmers, Tyrrell's Wines and WFI."

People travelled from Cowra, Grenfell, and Young, and some people made the journey from Sydney and beyond.
