Member for Cootamundra Steph Cooke, Hilltops mayor Brian Ingram and NSW Police have called for residents across the region, including Young, to follow the government's strict measures to stop the spread of coronavirus.

While there's no cases, as of Monday, confirmed in the Hilltops and only two in the Cootamundra electorate (Cootamundra-Gundagai and Weddin LGAs), Steph Cooke MP says people need to listen to updates and messages.
"This is an incredibly difficult time for everyone, but these measures are here to keep people safe," Ms Cooke said.
"There are only four reasons why people should be leaving their homes, for work or school if it's not possible for you to do this remotely, for medical reasons, to buy essentials and to exercise.
"There are only two confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the Cootamundra electorate. We all have a role to play in keeping these numbers low."
Hilltops mayor Brian Ingram asks the community to play their part in keeping everyone safe.
This morning, playgrounds and skateparks were closed across the Hilltops local government area.
"The message is very clear, stay local and stay home. It is up to each of us to do our part to keep everyone safe and this means only going out when necessary, maintaining appropriate social distancing, washing our hands, coughing or sneezing into our elbows and self-isolating if unwell.
"Council are following all directives from the Australian government for the safety of our community. We will continue to be proactive in our approach and thank residents for their cooperation. We will be working closely with local police to monitor playgrounds, skateparks and social gatherings to ensure appropriate social distancing measures are being adhered to.
"This is a tough time for local businesses, I understand that. Many goods are available locally online and I encourage you to take the opportunity to continue to support local businesses this way.
"For anyone struggling with their mental health during this time, you are not alone and help is available. Information regarding the coronavirus, financial support, mental health support and current closures is available on the Hilltops Council website.
"Please look out for each other and be kind to each other. We will get through it as a community if we all do the right thing. My appreciation and thanks go to those working hard to deliver essential services to the community, our doctors, nurses and supermarket staff just to name a few."
Young Police are playing an integral role in the multi-agency response to the COVID-19 pandemic, and will continue to work closely with federal, state and local partner agencies including NSW Health, the NSW Ambulance Service, the Australian Border Force, education, transport, local government and the Australian Defence Force.
Hume Police District Commander Superintendent Chris Schilt said police are involved in communication, planning and information exchange, occurring at local, regional and state level, to ensure the community is given the best possible advice and to ensure the best possible response is occurring.
"Last week the NSW Police launched Operation Coronavirus state-wide to guide our response. We have highly specialised officers providing practical and logistical support to our 17,000 strong workforce as they respond to this crisis," Superintendent Schilt said.
"This support of course reaches our staff working in the Young sector, which includes the Hilltops and Weddin local government areas."
Mr Schilt said police will continue to conduct proactive patrols across The Hume Police District to make sure people in public places are keeping with the social distancing guidelines and are not in contravention of any ministerial directions or public health orders.
"These patrols also form part of our ongoing work with retailers, to ensure calm and fairness at the checkouts."
Superintendent Schilt would like to remind the community to stay safe and continue to follow the official government advice so police do not need to intervene.
"This is a very contagious virus and we all need to do everything we can to play our part to stop its spread," he added.
