There's a strong belief within the community that a prisoner transfer tunnel does exist between the old courthouse and old jail, according to readers of The Young Witness.

Majority of responses to a question posted last month on the Young Witness Facebook page asking readers 'does a tunnel exist?' were yes.
Shadow Minister for Rural Affairs Mick Veitch has also urged people to speak out if they have any evidence of a tunnel existing.
One reader said the tunnels were a topic discussed in history class at Young High School.
"My 1980s Young High School history teacher told us there was a tunnel, and it went under the edge of C block, then the old ball courts between the TAFE and the High School, but that is now the area in front of the Col McMurray Library, a walkway and a lot of concrete, and one would think any sign of a tunnel might have been discovered in the earthworks when those buildings were done," Dee Mac said.
Some said there's access to a tunnel under the stage in the hall/old courthouse.
"Apparently there was access under the stage and possibly a covered manhole near the main office, I was lead to believe when I was there 1980 to 1984," Jodie Walsh said.
Brian James, a volunteer at the Young Lambing Flat Folk Museum, says he has always been sceptical about a tunnel from the old courthouse to the jail.
"Recently I heard rumours that something has been found that resembles a tunnel," he said.
"There is a big possibility that this 'tunnel' is a couple of holding cells for the prisoners before the court. There would have been holding cells at the courthouse under floor level and are probably still there."
Another reader, James Wall, asked "is it simply a story told over the years?"
