The National Rugby League has announced players can return to training with games set to start on Thursday May 28, but former Cherrypicker Jordan McLean has said his Cowboys side still has some "work to do" to get ready.

The North Queensland Cowboys were named the NRL 9s champions earlier this year and picked up one win and one loss at the start of the 2020 normal NRL season, but coming into the season restart the premiership could go to any side.
"We're not taking anything out of being 1-1, it's not a bad start, better than being zero from two so hopefully we can keep going and getting a few more wins," McLean told NRL.com.
"I'm sure when other teams get back to training too they will be as keen as the next team."
McLean said he struggled to stay motivated while the code postponed the remainder of the 2020 season.
"For a while there it was hard to get motivated and train for something that you didn't know whether you would get back," McLean said.
"Having a date there definitely gives you more motivation.
"Once we get the OK to come back and train I think we've got a lot of work to do."
The Queensland Government gave the Cowboys, Broncos and Titans permission to resume travel and training last week in preparation for the May 28 restructured restart.
