Great Southern Nights is a music event bringing 1000 COVID-safe gigs to venues across NSW in November.
Mayor Ingram said towns across the Hilltops would benefit from an event coming to the region.
"It is great to see the NSW government put forward this initiative to support the recovery of the live music, entertainment and hospitality industries. We would absolutely welcome a COVID-safe gig in the Hilltops area as I believe it would lift the spirits of our community and attract visitors. The attraction of visitors is one of the ways we will recover as a community from the recent pandemic," mayor Brian Ingram said.
ARIA chief executive officer Dan Rosen said he was proud to create the opportunity for Australian musicians, while helping to bring back to live music scene across NSW.
"Live music events bring visitors, culture and excitement to communities. This initiative will provide an invaluable boost for the artists, crew, venues and music community that make gigs happen," he said.
Minister for Jobs, Investment and Tourism Stuart Ayres said the gigs would be a welcome antidote to the challenges presented by COVID-19, bushfires and the prolonged drought.
"We'll be able to get out and see regional NSW and Sydney come to life," he said.
Member for Cootamundra Steph Cooke called on local artists and venues to register their interest to be involved.
"This has been an incredibly difficult time for our regional musicians, so it is fantastic these talented artists can now perform again," Ms Cooke said.
"This is a fantastic opportunity for our region's many talented performers and venues to register their interest to be a part of such an exciting new event, and I urge them to come forward," she added.
Among the 20 headline acts to play at the Great Southern Nights are Jimmy Barnes, Birds of Tokyo, Missy Higgins, The Jungle Giants, Paul Kelly, Thelma Plum, The Presets, Amy Shark, Tash Sultana, The Tesky Brothers, Tones and I, and The Veronicas.
Venues and artists are invited to submit an expression of interest to be involved in the event.
Registrations are now open at greatsouthernnights.com.au
