According to the data from the Bureau of Meteorology last August Young received 15.6mm of rain in the gauge with the town recording 62.2mm already up until 9am on Monday morning.
The average rainfall for August is around 48.9mm according to the BoM, however the town has already received nearly 15mm over that only 17 days into the month and more rain predicted for the remainder of the month.
The highest August rainfall recorded at the BoM's airport site is 109.4mm for the month in 2000.
The yearly average rainfall has nearly been surpassed with the year to date precipitation recorded for Young sitting at 538.9mm up until 9am on Monday.
The town only needs to receive a further 60.7mm to reach the yearly average of 588.9mm.
Rain is forecast for Young up until Saturday afternoon.
