The Young Health Service was one of five beneficiaries which shared equally in the $110,000 raised from the 5000km, 22-day journey, which has since cemented the stature of local brothers Max and Kevin Goodman as true community champions.

For Max and Kevin, it was also somewhat of a second-coming - they had pedalled the gruelling path from west to east coasts in similar fashion some 40 years previously.

Young Facility Manager Belinda Downey said the donation of $22,000 from the ride across the Nullarbor was testament to the incredible support the Young Health Service receives from the local community.

"It will benefit our local community for many years to come and all of our health professionals really appreciate the support we receive," she said.

"It truly is this type of community commitment that makes the Young district such a great place to live."

The new equipment includes a new high-low trauma bed and high-flow oxygen system for the ED, as well as a new lounge for the maternity suite, new obstetric education mannequins and much-needed equipment for the antenatal and birthing classes.

Clinical midwifery educator Jacquie Cooper said the obstetric education mannequins are an important training tool.

"The mannequins will be used for simulation training, ensuring obstetric staff are even better prepared to help new mothers through the birthing process," said Ms Cooper.

"A big thank you once again to the bike riding crew who have raised an amazing amount of money on their latest trek," Ms Downey added.

"We are so very grateful for the ongoing support of our community."
