Hilltops Council has completed a study which lists close to 300 individual heritage items and will help form the Hilltops LEP, which is on public exhibition until April 26.

The Hilltops Heritage Review Study investigated heritage items across the local government area, to assist council with conservation and management into the future.
The study lists 298 individual heritage items, including the consistent listing of heritage items across the region.
The majority of new items included are 112 items added from the Boorowa Community Heritage Study, which had not been adopted as a part of the Boorowa LEP.
Additionally, 13 new items, not previously recorded, have been identified.
They include the Collingwood machine shearing shed and Collingwood blade shearing shed at Beggan Beggan, north of Harden.
Louvain shearer's quarters at Boorowa, and the lower Coolegong shearing shed at Bulla Creek.
Four items at Crowther including the Cooyong Schoolhouse, Crowther Creek run store, former Crowther Post Office and Crowther Creek shearing shed. The Old butcher shop at Jugiong, and water filtration plant.
The Calabash shearing shed complex at Murringo, Everton homestead group at Rye Park, and Quinn's Welcome Inn stables at Young. The review proposes to remove 54 items from existing LEPs.
The review states that those items are proposed for removal on a number of grounds, however their location within proposed Heritage Conservation Areas is a common reason.
Six proposed Heritage Conservation Areas have been identified, two in Boorowa and Harden-Murrumburrah respectively, one in Galong and the existing area in Young.

Council invites you to provide your feedback and submission on the Draft Hilltops LEP 2021 by Monday, April 26, 2021.
