Young will be one of just eight regional destinations hosting the festival.
Member for Cootamundra Steph Cooke said the Southern Cross Cinema will be hosting this cultural event.
"I am so pleased the Travelling Film Festival is coming to Young and will give people from across the region the chance to see this showcase of films," Ms Cooke said.
"This is a real coup for our region and the chance for the community to see a selection of cutting edge cinema.
"After the challenges of last year this is the opportunity for people to go out and enjoy themselves and is a great boost for the beautiful Southern Cross Cinema."
Southern Cross Cinema Manager and Arts Facilitator Matthew Hall said he was delighted.
"Bringing in the Travelling Film Festival puts Young on the map in terms of the arts and specifically cinema," Mr Hall said.
"We're hoping to partner with other local businesses to ensure everyone gets the benefit of having this festival in town.
"We're over the moon to have secured this."
Young will host the Travelling Film Festival on June 30 to August 1 and tickets will go on sale June 17.
Minster for the Arts, Don Harwin said the Travelling Film Festival would provide a cultural and economic boost to the regions, bringing audiences back to their local theatres following a year of uncertainty.
"Local cinemas are the beating heart of our regional communities, and after a tough year where many of us missed our friends, community and culture, people are keen to come back together to enjoy a night out experiencing storytelling at its best." Mr Harwin said.
Sydney Film Festival CEO Leigh Small said Sydney Film Festival is committed to supporting local cinemas rebuild engagement in the wake of the impact of 2020 on the arts and entertainment sectors.
"Expanding the reach of the Travelling Film Festival through NSW will provide opportunities for regional audiences to reconnect with world class cinema in their own city, while also supporting the Australian film industry ecosystem," Leigh Small said.
The Travelling Film Festival is Australia's longest running travelling film festival.
