The Operational Plan, which includes council's proposed 2021-22 budget, was a late addition to the agenda at council's May meeting held on Wednesday night. Council is aiming to have the document endorsed by councillors, placed on public exhibition for 28 days, and then finalised after submissions before the end of the financial year.
General manager Anthony O'Reilly said council is "up against it".
"We're up against it. We got the reports out very late, that's why they were late reports. So this will give councillors another week. There will be two extraordinary meetings. One next Wednesday night to discuss putting them out on public exhibition. And then there will be another extraordinary meeting at the end of the financial year to adopt the budget after consideration of submissions. It's great that week councillors have another week to consider the information presented to them."
Mayor Brian Ingram said the deferral was needed.
"It gives councillors the extra needed time to make sure we can go through those line items," mayor Ingram added.
