Road network repairs will come at 'significant' cost to Hilltops council: mayor

Hilltops mayor Brian Ingram says the assessment and repair will be a matter of priority.

However, until roads have dried out and the weather clears, the full extent of the damage will not be known.

Mayor Ingram says council will be seeking assistance from the state and federal government to help cover costs.

He said the repair will cost council significantly.

One resident took to Facebook posting a photo to the Young NSW Community Group showing damage to the road between Murringo and Boorowa.

"Road has bad patches take extra care," they said.

Young recorded over 100mm of rain during July.

"We are aware of damage to the Hilltops road network caused by continued wet weather across the region," mayor Brian Ingram said.

"The assessment and repair of this damage will be a matter of priority for Council, however, the extent of damage cannot be assessed until the rain has eased and roads have dried out. We expect these repairs will come at significant cost to Council, accordingly we will be seeking the support of both the State and Federal Governments to assist in the cost of carrying out repairs to bring our road network back to an acceptable and safe condition for all road users."
