Bailey Kennedy has run in a whopping six tries as Canowindra Tigers romped to a 66-6 first grade win over Grenfell on the Goannas’ home ground on Sunday.

It equals a record that’s stood for the club since Barry Traves achieved the feat in 1985 and gave the club plenty to celebrate in Round 8 of the Woodbridge Cup competition.

Grenfell started well on Sunday, forcing the Tigers into defence early, but it was only a matter of minutes before the visitors gained the upper hand and Shi Mariner put first points on the board.

Just a few minutes later Canowindra sent the ball wide for Bailey Kennedy to skirt down the sidelines and offload to Zac Hunt who crossed the line.

Kennedy scored his first try 15 minutes in, swooping on a Rob Burn kick and diving over in the corner to see Tigers up 14-0.

Next points went to Lewis Dwyer, who pushed off the defenders as he made his way to the try-line.

Kennedy scored another three and Anthony Gaeta one to see Canowindra dominate the scoreboard 44-nil when the half time whistle blew.

The winger’s onslaught continued in the second half.

While Grenfell did put points on the board through second rower Harrison Starr, Kennedy bagged another brace for Canowindra.

Next it was Deegy Mariner who broke through the line and offloaded to Josh Cooney to score on the other side of the field.

Shiem Mariner was next to make his way down the field, pushing off the Grenfell defence for 25 metres - taking two over the line with him – for a final score of 66-6.

Kennedy was given a well-deserved 3 points in best and fairest, Jaye Mariner 2, Deegy and Shi Mariner 1 each.

Tigers are fourth on the ladder of 13 teams after Round 8 of the 15-round competition, with their next game back at home against the Condobolin Rams.
