Cast your lines for Canowindra Carp Muster

Get your bait and fishing rod ready for the return of the Canowindra Carp Muster.

Hosted by OzFish and Mid Lachlan Landcare, this free event aims to remove as many carp as possible in an attempt to help improve the health of the Lachlan River and surrounding wetlands.

It’s free to enter and there’s prizes for the biggest carp and most carp caught, with categories for kids, teens and adults. In order to enter your carp into the prize categories, you must also collect at least 50 items of rubbish from local waterways. A prize will also be given for most rubbish collected.

The Canowindra Carp Muster will take place on Sunday, 20 July from 6am – 3pm at the Age of Fishes Museum.

Registration is essential and begins at 6am at the OzFish hub on the day.

The weigh in will take place from 2pm to 2.30pm with the presentations taking place from 2.30pm to 3pm

No late submissions will be accepted.

This event is also a Yabby Trap Drop Spot. Bring along any old and unwanted opera house yabby traps and get an Oar-Gee Plow lure. Opera house nets are illegal in NSW and those collected will be recycled into useful products for anglers, with the proceeds being used to support habitat restoration.
