Last Tuesday 13th May, Cowra held one of its very popular Gala days. The event is held by the Cowra club twice a year. For the occasion we invited members from Young, Orange, Bathurst, Parkes, and Blue Mountains Clubs. Altogether with ourselves, we had thirty-seven players.
The game of the day was Golf Croquet and our courts were very busy with sixteen players on the court at any one time.
Some skill activities kept those off the courts busy as they knocked down dollies, tried hooping from different angles, split angles, and aimed for a croquet ball in the centre of a circle with different weight balls, eg. golf, ping pong, cricket and plastic balls,
At the close of day as everyone settled down for afternoon tea, raffles and lucky door prizes were drawn and presented. Winners of the games were to Peter Druett, Young; Jim Cook, Blue Mtns; John Cook, Bathurst; and Nigel Sethack, Orange.
Cowra members had excelled themselves preparing tasty morsels and there was plenty of noisy banter as the cakes etc disappeared. Our visitors then bade a happy farewell, while the Cowra club members happily chatted about the day as they cleaned up after another very successful occasion.
