About 5.10am on Thursday 29 August 2013, 33-year-old Corey Power was found unconscious in Wombat Street, Young.
He was assessed on site by paramedics before being taken to Young District Hospital. Mr Power underwent further treatment for severe head injuries, but died a short time after his arrival at hospital.
Cootamundra Local Area Command Crime Manager, Detective Inspector Paul Huxtable, said Mr Power had returned to Young in August 2013 after living in the ACT.
“He returned to Young so he could be closer to his four-year-old daughter and watch her grow up,” Detective Inspector Huxtable said.
“We are renewing our appeals for anyone with information about who might have been responsible to contact police.
“On the night he was assaulted Corey was wearing a jacket with a distinctive print on the back.
“Someone must have seen what happened to Corey after he walked along Wombat Street.
“Detectives from Strike Force Bumble have been following a number of good lines of inquiry, some generated through social media sites such as Facebook.
“We would particularly like to speak with anyone who might have interacted with Corey via Facebook in the days before his death.
“All we want for Corey’s family – and his daughter in particular – is to find out who is responsible and put them before the courts.”
