There were a few late Saturday morning withdrawals nonetheless all who played are to be congratulated.

On Saturday also in conjunction with round one was the March monthly medal sponsored by Harvey Norman Superstore Young.

In A Grade, Mark Crutcher won the medal with 70 nett, Ron Homper won B Grade with 68 nett and Bob Stone won C Grade with 71 nett on a countback.

The scratch elite winners were Joel Shields in A Grade with 72, Ron Thompson won B Grade with 82 an Jim Glasheen won C Grade with 90 on a count back. 

The Watson Toyota NTP winners were James French and Ron Thompson. 

The Tony Bros. Carpet Court secret birdie hole (eighth) was won by Steve Sell.

The John Hobson Refrigeration and Air-conditioning putting winners were Jam French (25), Kim Watson (26) and David Martins (29).

Sunday was a truly great day for Round 2 of the championships and the handicaps event for Sunday was sponsored by Greg Grounds, Greg Murray and David Martens.

The A Grade winner was Geoff Walker with 70 nett, Cameron Elsley won B Grade with 70 nett and Ben Lucas had a very good score to win C Grade with 64 nett.

After 36 holes in A grade Geoff Walker and Joel Shields are tied on 144 and they will be in the same four next Saturday with Alan Wilder and Matt McKnight. 

In B grade Ron Thompson and John Hobson are battling it out for the leading spot.

Ron has 190 and John 172 and they will be joined in the final B Grade pairing by Steve May and Cameron Elsley.

In C grade the Jim Glasheen is the leader on 180, with Ben Lucas on 182.

A seeded draw applies for round three next Saturday and the leading eight players in A Grade are G Walter, J Shields, A Walder, M Mcknight, M Crutcher, S Sell, J French and D Schofield. (Mick Alexander first reserve.)

In B Grade R. Thompson, J. Hobson,  S. May, C.Elsley, S.Murray, D.Taylore, P. Blizzard and G. Murray with M. Kentwell and M. Flanders reserves.

In C Grade, J.Glasheen, B. lucas, P. Doherty, S. Dewar, B. Page, P. Flynn, P. Fitzgerald, R. Carnley with K. Duran and G. Anderson reserves.

All players need to check with the pro shop to ascertain starting times. A lot of interest centers around the 72 hole handicap being run in conjunction.  

In A Grade Mark Crutcher leads on 141 form Geoff Walker, in B grade Ron Thompson leads from John Hobson and in C grade Ben Lucas leads from Jim Glasheen.

After Round 1 In the electic Ron Thompson leads on 68, John Hobson 69, Mark Crulcher on 70 and Bob Stone and Steve Dewor are on 71 nett.

Round 2 cards will be processed early in the week and up to date by Wednesday.

This event is being sponsored by Gary’s Gourmet Meats with an $80 open order for the winner of the 72 hole event.

On Tuesday Nerida James was the winner on 22 points on a countback from Lyn Quay.

On Wednesday Allan Moore was the winner with 42 points from Ben Lucas on 38, Darryl Brown 37, Geoff Connelly 36, Pud SMithers 26, David Grant 36, Max Gilbert 35 Balls to 30 on a countback.

The jackpot draw was not won.

On Tuesday Darren O’Brien won with 20 points.

After week seven of the Daylight Savings team Competition Eye Q (M Flanders, M. Simmons, M. Loiterton, S.Dewar and C. Jones) were the winners from Halkers (G Lestrange, B Lestrange, M Goodlock, P. Brodbeck and D. Whinam.)

After week seven the points score leaders are Young Tyrepower 27, Twomeys 26, Eye Q 26, Halkers 25, Young Pet Nanny 24, TLC 22, Great Eastern 17 and The Blackguards on 11 points.

The Calcutta draw on Saturday was most successful and has created a lot of interest.

There will be much interest in the Championship third round next Saturday and we may some a few supporters following the groups. All are welcome.

Next Saturday the handicap will be sponsored by Max Gilbert, Gary Nicolls and John Rolfe and the Sunday event will be sponsored by Ken Smith, Brian Page and Wayne Hewson. We thank all for their support.

The course on the weekend looked absolutely magnificent and great credit to Ben and Michael plus a number of volunteers who put in some hours during the week to assist in the course grooming.
