Catholic education director for Canberra diocese Moira Najdecki was on hand to cut the ribbon for the new “technology space”.
It is filled with the latest technology including interactive televisions, and state-of-the-art laptops and computers.
Even the tables are designed to be interactive, able to be unlocked and moved around.
Principal Dr Peter Webster said it is an important area for contemporary education where students are encouraged to interact and develop real world experiences.
“They can be doing different kinds of cooperative learning, not the old sit down, shut up and read type of thing,” he said.
“It’s more than just the computer hardware – it is how students can learn and develop in their world.”
Students are just as excited about the new facilities as their principal.
Year 11 student Cameron Rivolsi said “it’s that one step further to independent life.”
Fellow student Jake Cummings said it would help them bridge the gap with metropolitan schools.
“It means we can compete with the city schools,” he said.
