The Year 11 student, who currently attends PLC Sydney school at Croydon, headed to Bendigo, Victoria to compete in the 17-19 years category in both the individual and NSW age relay events.
First up was her individual race of 750m swim, 20km ride and a five kilometre run last Thursday.
This saw Hobson cross the finish line sixth overall out of 22 in her age group in a time of 1.14.24, averaging a pace of 2.53 minutes per kilometre.
She came 59th out of the total 75 girls competing at the championships and 143rd out of 159, boys and girls combined.
But the shining moment for the teenager, who is one of the youngest participants in her age group, came the next morning when her NSW senior girls team claimed a silver medal in the 600m swim, 16km ride and four kilometre run event.
They also came third out of the total 26 girls teams competing.
Hobson’s representation at the national titles follows on from her win in the senior girls division at the NSW All Schools Triathlon (NSWAST) event held at Penrith International Regatta Centre in February.
