Representatives of Young Public School and Young High School bands have joined their counterparts for the week-long camp, hosted by Wagga Wagga High School, which started Sunday.
The talented young musicians from 21 schools as far away as Albury and Hay are working under the guidance of renowned conductor, Di Hall and a team of enthusiastic tutors.
As well as polishing their performance with some of the region’s best aspiring musicians, the students will be auditioned during the camp for future West of the Divide Band international tours, the 2014 State Wind Ensemble 2014 and the Riverina Concert Band 2014.
The camp is one of a wealth of creative and performing arts enrichment activities offered to Riverina public school students each year.
These enrichment opportunities enable students to extend their talents well beyond anything that can be offered by any individual school and have seen local students blossom in state, national and international arenas.
As usual the camp will conclude with a public concert.
This year, the concert, which will be held at Ashmont Public School hall at 1.30pm on Friday, May 9, will feature one of the largest ever concert bands assembled to perform in the Riverina in recent years.
