Emergency services were called to the fire that ignited on a vacant block within metres of homes at about 4.30pm.
Two crews from Young Fire and Rescue NSW, as well as three Rural Fire Service tankers from Young and Boara, arrived on the scene.
Young Fire and Rescue captain Ryan Terry said the blaze was under control when they arrived and crews allowed it to burn a while longer to reduce the overgrown, dead grass.
“Just for where it was, we’ve been called out to that block on numerous occasions over the years,” he said.
“We thought it would be good to let it burn to make it safer, treat it like a hazard reduction burn.
"It will do it good, better to have it happen now than on a day like last Friday.”
The fire burnt an estimated three acres.
A police investigation revealed four children were spotted at the scene, with two being treated as primary offenders.
An 11-year-old boy was dealt with a youth caution while a nine-year-old boy was too young to have any action taken against him.
No evacuations were conducted for surrounding residences in Pine View Circuit.
