Under 18s, Senior Leaguetag, Young Cherryatrics will all play Grenfell teams before the evening match between Young First Grade and the Grenfell Invitational side.
With a number of players with Sydney grade experience to go with some local legends, the Goannas are surely confident of a big performance. Led by Steve “Bluey” Southern, the local boys will be keen to give a good showing and the Cherrypickers will have to be on their toes.
Although having a preparation held up by some delays to imports with visa issues, the team is starting to take shape and with quality like Captain Luke Branighan as well as Matt Wakefield and Neil Thorman, the Cherrypickers will still field a potent side.
The available locals have been working hard and some of the new, younger faces are surely set for big things. Big boppers Kyle Richens and Aaron Slater look set to rattle some cages and some of the Cherrypickers speedy guys like Nick Hall and Warren Aiken will relish playing behind them.
Fans and family alike are encouraged to get to Grenfell on Saturday from lunchtime for the footy which is sure to prove entertaining in all matches.
Juniors trial for rep side
Local boys and girls will also be packing their bags and will be either playing this Sunday or next Wednesday night.
Boys representative teams from Under 12s to Under 15s will travel across to Cootamundra this Sunday, March 22 to participate in the Northern Pool trials.
Each team will get some much needed game time, while some boys will be selected to play for Northern Pool the following week if they play well enough.
Good luck to all of the boys.
The Under 16 league tag is also playing a trial on Sunday in Cootamundra and coach Walsh is looking forward to seeing his girls take another step forward.
Next Wednesday will be the turn of the little fellas.
Our town comp trials will happen on the next two Wednesday nights from 5.30pm at Keith Cullen Oval.
This is where all boys in the three grades, Under 7s, Under 9s and Under 11s have a run so we can even our teams up for the upcoming season.
Parents and children are encouraged to get there by 5pm so they can find their name on a team list and then find their coach.
Remember it is meant to be a non-competitive night, where we all get to have a run and make a tackle, so coaches can balance the teams out.
If you have any queries contact Nick Hall or check out the Young Junior league Facebook page or website where the club posts a lot of relevant information.
Kids will need to bring their boots and shorts ready to play.
If you haven’t yet received your free shorts from rego someone will be at the ground on Friday afternoon between 5-6pm.
The last registration day will be this Saturday between 11am and 1pm.
Everyone is encouraged to register online as it is easier for both parents and club. Registrations can be done at the Young Junior League website.
All parents are reminded that no child can train or play until they are registered.
