The McAlister Motors-Isuzu Ute Ladies Day will see a huge line-up of attractions for the local ladies attending including free champagne and lunch as well as a return of the ‘Kick-for-Cash’ competition before settling in to groove with local DJ “Disco” Doug Houston.
On the field there is full card of top quality rugby for supporters with the club’s Women’s 7-a-side squad kicking off at 11.30am, followed by an internal Yabbies trial for the U16s and U18s. Second grade kicks off at 1pm before First Grade round out the day with what could be the SIRU match of the round against Reddies at 2.15pm.
First grade will be running out with limited edition pink charity jerseys made by Canterbury Clothing Company that will be auctioned off following the post-match presentations in the newly renovated Cranfield Clubhouse. Fifty per cent of funds raised will go to the Yabbies’ 2015 charity the Cauliflower Club (www.cauliflower club.org.au) which raises funds for people with sports-related disabilities.
Club president Ben Reid said that he is excited to host the popular Ladies Day and hopes that a large crowd can help the first grade side position itself near the top of the ladder with a win.
“We are one win and one loss from our first two rounds and need a solid performance this weekend to give ourselves a chance of a top six finish this year,” Reid said
“Appropriately our Women’s 7-a-side team are playing tomorrow and it will be a fitting event for the day. The girls have banded together this year to form the team from scratch and hope to get their first win of the season at home.”
Reid also reported that the club has secured a lucrative sponsorship package this year from McAlister Motors and Isuzu Ute which, uniquely, will support both the Junior and Senior clubs.
The package sees McAlister Motors continue its association as a long term supporter of the Yabbies while the support of Isuzu Ute and our other loyal sponsors will go a long way to help underpin the financial stability of the club.
