Families, veterans and visitors gathered in front of the Town Hall, with numbers estimated to be in excess of 600 people - well up on previous years.
An eerie feeling filled the air as only the voices of cadets, those conducting speeches and The Last Post breaking the 40 minute silence.
Young will now prepare for the 10am service that will see students, veterans and family march along Lovell Street, Lynch Street and Boorowa Street before assembling in front of Town Hall.
Lest we forget.
