The club was established in 1955 under the leadership of the first president, the late E.R Caldwell and has since then enjoyed 60 years of continuous rugby.
There have been plenty of milestones along the way with a few premierships, plenty of great times, but most importantly lifetime friendships that have stood the test of time.
“It is a tribute to those who put the club together all those years ago and the game of rugby continues to be a great social connector to this day,” current president Ben Reid said.
“I’ve never seen so much positivity around, with both the junior and senior clubs fielding record player numbers, which is fitting for our 60th year.”
The celebrations commence on the Friday night, June 5 at the newly renovated Cranfield Clubhouse at 6pm. This will be a ‘casual’ catch up and a good opportunity for those who can make it to warm up for the big event on Saturday.
There is no need to RSVP to the Friday night, so please come along with families in tow.
There will be a barbecue dinner with full bar facilities open.
On Saturday afternoon there is an Old Boys rugby game scheduled for 12.30pm at Cranfield Oval. For anyone out there who can still pull on a pair of boots, please bring them along for what will be a very steady paced game, likely touch at best.
This will then be followed by a faster paced game with current Yabbies players and anyone who wants to take part.
The centrepiece of the weekend is the reunion dinner on the Saturday night, 6.30pm at the PCYC in Lachlan Street.
The club hosted 350 people to the 50th year dinner and the organising committee expect there will be in excess of this for what will be a great evening and an opportunity for old mates to catch up.
We are lucky enough to have ex club player and coach Jack Potts attending the evening, who was the 423rd Wallaby in the late 1950s (see Page 37 for full article).
There are people attending from far and wide for the evening, so for those of you who have had any affiliation with the club during its 60 years are strongly urged to come along.
There are still tickets available at only $60 per head from our good friends at Gilberts Bookstore up until Tuesday next week, so please get down there if you intend to come along.
There is a three coarse meal plus entertainment included in the ticket price.
A note for females, the PCYC cannot accept stiletto heels. You must wear heels equal to or larger than a 10c piece, or wear heel protectors on your shoes. For any inquiries please contact Jude Bryant on 0428 449 641.
