The glitzy winter solstice night was the inaugural Agribusiness Council of Australia (ACA) National Feast hosted by the Governor-General of Australia Sir Peter Cosgrove.
And duck breast from Thuddungra’s Dutton Park featured on the menu in a quince and pecan salad with maple syrup dressing.
That was not the only local presence with former Sheepmeat Council of Australia president Ian McColl of Koorawatha also a guest at the dinner.
There he rubbed shoulders with national agribusiness professionals and international ambassadors, numbering a total 50 guests.
Among them were the Indian High Commissioner, United States Ambassador and Japanese Ambassador.
It took three years to plan but the evening celebrated Australian food, sourced on the locavore or locally produced principle.
The uniquely Australian dinner was prepared at Government House by Australia’s only Indigenous hatted chef, Mr Clayton Donovan.
The ACA envisions that the National Feast will grow into an annual event celebrated by all Australians (formally and informally) without connection to any other agenda.
