A RECENT domestic violence attack recently landed a 20-year-old former Young resident in hospital in Canberra.
The woman presented at the hospital with a broken jaw as a result of an alleged attack by a 31-year-old Young man.
The man was arrested and charged with recklessly inflicting grevious bodily harm, intimidation and two counts of breaching an apprehended voilence order.
He will face Young Local Court on June 7.
Court date for drink driver
A 57-year-old Quandialla man is to face court after being issued a court attendance notice for driving under the influence of alcohol.
The man was sighted at 8.15pm on May 7 by police patrolling the Quandialla-Bimbi Road.
After stopping the vehicle and speaking to the driver they formed the opinion he was well affected by alcohol.
He is set to appear in Young Local Court on July 5.
Shop staff stop rum runner
THE quick actions of staff at a local supermarket stopped a would-be thief in his tracks last Thursday.
The thief entered the store, removed a bottle of rum from a shelf and departed without paying.
Staff who saw the theft take place, yelled at the man, causing him to put down the bottle and leave the building.
Man facing drug charges
LOCAL police have charged a 32-year-old man with various drug offences following a search of a residence in Young on Monday afternoon.
About 3.50pm on Monday, May, 16, police attended an address in Cook Crescent in Young.
A search of the premises located 14.9 grams of amphetamine, seven MDMA pills (2.5 grams) and $400 in Australian currency.
The 32-year-old resident of Young was arrested and conveyed to Young Police Station where he was charged with supply indictable quantity of amphetamine, possess amphetamine, possession of MDMA (ecstasy), and dealing with the proceeds of crime.
He has been released on conditional bail to appear at the Young Local Court on July 5, 2016.
Counterfeit $50 notes discovered
Local retailers are being asked by police to double check their bank notes after counterfeit $50 notes were used during a transaction in Cootamundra last weekend.
