Australians who have not enrolled to vote - especially young Australians who only recently turned 18 - have been urged to urgently lodge their details to avoid missing out on a chance to have their say on July 2.

Although there are still six weeks to run in this year's election campaign, the electoral rolls close at 8pm on Monday. Voters who have changed their address since the last election are also required to update their details.
The Australian Electoral Commission estimates that around 950,000 eligible Australians are not currently enrolled to vote, including half of all 18-year olds.
The AEC stressed that Australians can enrol and update their details online, and that the process only takes around five minutes.
A quarter of voters aged 18 to 24 are believed to not be enrolled, with more not going to the polls or voting informally.
Youth group Y Vote estimates that these "wasted" votes outnumber the margins in close seats including Barton, Dobell and Reid, meaning young voters could sway the results if enough were to enrol.
ABC election analyst Antony Green said he believed enrolments were closing at least a week too early because many voters had not yet tuned into the campaign.
He said the Australian Electoral Commission should move to automatically enrol 18-year olds, as happens for state elections in NSW and Victoria. In NSW all voters can also enrol up until election day.
"In my view, there isn't a good reason why they don't," he said.
"Various governments have just declined to do it.
"There are better ways to get people on the roll."
Former special minister for state Gary Gray, who pushed through changes to voting regulations in 2013, said it was concerning that hundreds of thousands of voters were missing from the roll.
But he said the AEC had expressed worries that some of the information relied on by their state equivalents - such as university enrolment information - was not accurate enough for the federal level.
Australian Youth Affairs Coalition national director Leo Fieldgrass said: "Something has failed with our democratic process if so many people are excluded from the roll.
"The system is not set up to support young people aged between 18 and 24."
Mr Fieldgrass said automatic enrolment and optional voting for 16-year olds would encourage more young Australians to vote. Many young Australians also feel that issues important to them are being overlooked, he said.
Politicians such as Tanya Plibersek and Wayne Swan recently uploaded photos of themselves in their youth to encourage younger voters to enrol.
