Central Intelligence (M)
Starring Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart and Danielle Nicolet.
Central Intelligence features an excellent comic performance from Dwayne Johnson, who has often done his best work in films given little critical respect, from Southland Tales to Pain and Gain.
The premise is the sort which critics politely describe as “serviceable”.
We first meet the lead characters in high school, where Calvin Joyner (Kevin Hart) is a top student beloved by all, while Robbie Weirdicht (Johnson) is a chubby laughing stock.
Twenty years on,and Calvin is a pen-pushing accountant in mourning for his golden youth, while Robbie, who now calls himself Bob Stone, is a buff CIA killer.
Bob takes success in his stride, he's used to being fawned over by women, for instance, he retains a basic humility: he's thrilled to be hanging out with Calvin, his high school idol.– Jake Wilson.
