Young Lions’ men’s division were handed a 4-nil defeat by Junee on Sunday, putting their chance of qualifying for the Pascoe Plate finals into jeopardy.
Last week captain-coach Calum McCaffery predicted the Round 17 result to fall Young’s way, although Junee had other plans in mind as they produced the high-scoring outcome.
The loss now leaves Young with one last chance to qualify for the Pasco Plate finals held in two weeks time.
Young will take on the third-placed Tolland Wolverines in Round 18.
While Young will be fighting for their finals rights, they will also be counting on the outcome of the Junee versus Tumut match to fall their way. A loss to Tumut will see Young jump to eighth on the ladder and qualify the Lions for semi finals.
In the women's division the Lions held Henwood Park to a 2-all draw. Despite being out of finals contention, they aim to finish their season on a high this weekend.
