From the players and the committee, thank-you.
We love to see you there each week. Thanks to Rachel Douglas, Kelly Slater, Leanne Slater, Cherie Ward, Caitlin Smith- Nicholls, Angie Kay and Chloe Silk for umpiring.
You are all integral to the running of the Twilight netball competition and you umpired brilliantly.
Ellie also wants to thank those teams who read the umpiring roster and provided umpires as required. Particularly, The Stables and The Old Girls, who provided umpires, thank-you, your contribution to the game has not gone unnoticed.
A friendly reminder from Ellie that each week each team will be rostered on to umpire.
This applies to the Intermediate Division, Mixed Division and Ladies One and Two Division.
For details each week, please check the YDNA webiste and the Young and District Netball Association Facebook Page.
A reminder to managers that each week you should complete the form provided to nominate stand-out players from each game.
This week, we got some feedback from games and the following players are to be congratulated for their stand-out performances:
In the game between the Hot Rollers v Bits’n’Pieces, Taylor Kidd shone this week with consistent, accurate shooting.
The Hot Rollers won the game 10-0. Well done Taylor.
In the game between Yes, Yes, Yes v Rubber Duckies, Amy Anderson showed great improvement and Emma Walker put in a great all-round performance for the Yes, Yes, Yes team.
Okay, it’s time to abbreviate Yes, Yes, Yes, so just letting you know the YYY team won by a close margin, winning 14-10.
When The Stables played The Blow-ins, the girls from the Stables put in a strong performance to win the match 17-10.
Special mention goes to Kelly Hardy, who played well in defence and Theresa Taylor who was nominated because she played hard.
Don’t forget to nominate your team for the Cherry Festival Netball carnival which is on Saturday, November 3 and Sunday, November 4. It is a perfect opportunity to enjoy a social weekend of netball.
Teams travel from Canberra and around New South Wales to participate in the carnival but it is great to have plenty of netball players from Young involved in the carnival.
Netball Trivia this week: Did you know that when a player is defending in netballl, they must stand a distance of three feet from the opposing player.
Perhaps in todays age, players should be given the distance in metres.
The conversion of three feet to metres is .914 metres.
