Legatees from Young and their cadet and school student helpers are ready for their fund raising role which culminates in Badge Day this Friday, September 2.
Legacy Week is held in towns and cities big and small across Australia and supported by young and old.
Since 1923 Legacy has kept it’s promise to help the families of our fallen heroes.
Legacy is a charity supported by men and women of all ages, from all walks of life and including veterans and current Australian Defence Force personnel.
Their support and services now extend to include the dependants of members of today's Australian Defence Force who have lost their lives or have become incapacitated as a result of their military service.
At Young residents have traditionally shown great generosity towards this worthy cause and Legacy are hoping for great support again this year.
The funds raised from Legacy Week help Legacy continue to assist approximately 100,000 widows and 1,800 children and people with disabilities Australia-wide, with essential services such as, counselling, special housing, medical, advocacy and social support.
Public support will also help Legacy nurture children’s education.
They do this by contributing towards children’s school fees, books, uniforms, and recreational activities to aid their self-development and confidence.
At Young there are 50 widows of Veterans, who are regularly visited by local Legatees and offered a range of assistance when required.
With thousands of Australian Defence Force personnel currently deployed overseas, Legacy also stands ready to assist their families should the worst happen.
Legacy also offer pension advocacy through a nationwide network of trained and experienced Pension Officers who assist eligible families.
During Legacy Week the community are invited to help these families and buy a badge.
Funds raised will continue Legacy’s essential role in the community which they have been doing for 93 years.
