“As we transition the three previous organisations into the one Hilltops Council organisation, we acknowledge that some previous committees may be better served under a more regional structure,” Hilltops Council Administrator Wendy Tuckerman said.
At the August ordinary meeting of council, it was resolved that council would establish six regionally based section 355 committees.
These committees would include an Environmental Initiatives Committee, a Youth Initiatives Committee, a Tourism Committee, an Access Committee, an Arts & Cultural Committee and an Economic Development Committee.
It is intended that the make up of the committees will be determined at the October ordinary council meeting on October 26.
The number of people to make up each committee will be dependent upon how may nominations are received for the respective committees while there will be at least one representative from each of the LRC’s.
Council’s intention is to have a diverse range of people on each committee with a spread based on the area people are from, as well as the skill sets, experience and views they bring.
“The merging of Harden, Boorowa and Young has provided council with an opportunity to build stronger regional committees,” Mrs Tuckerman explained.
“These committees will provide knowledge and skills that have been developed across the Hilltops.
“We are able to draw on a larger pool of resources to achieve regional goals in these areas,” she said.
Expressions of interest are to be made in writing to council’s General Manager, Anthony McMahon, Hilltops Council, Locked Bag 5, Young NSW 2594, by 12.00pm on Wednesday, October 5.
