Swimmer Lakeisha Patterson wins Australia's first gold medal
Australia has won its first gold medal at the 2016 Rio Paralympics - and it came it style with swimmer Lakeisha Patterson breaking the world record in her 400m freestyle final (S8 category).

Patterson, 17, led from the 100m and didn't succumb, hitting the wall in 4:40.33 and shaving 0.11 seconds off the time of the previous world record holder, American Jessica Long, who won the silver medal.
Formerly of Victoria but now from Queensland, Patterson has eight events in Rio and started swimming at aged three as a form of physical therapy to help with her cerebral palsy.
Fellow Aussie Maddison Elliott finished fourth in 5:02.13.
