I am pleased to announce that Hilltops Council will host His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd) and Her Excellency, Lady Cosgrove, at a civic reception held in their honour at the Young Town Hall on Wednesday, 5 October.
Their Excellencies, will be in Young for the 2016 Variety Bash dinner and have graciously agreed to spend time in the region, experiencing our rural charm and hospitality first hand.
This event is of local and indeed, regional significance, and shines a light on the importance of our new local government area on a national level. Award winning Hilltops wines and the best of our local produce will be on proud display as the finest of our prime agricultural harvests are served to our guests of honour.
Council will host a guest list of approximately 100 invitees that will include representatives of local community organisations and Local Members from both Federal and State Parliaments including the Member for Riverina, Michael McCormack MP, the Member for Hume, Angus Taylor MP, the Member for Cootamundra, Katrina Hodgkinson MP, and the Member for Goulburn, Pru Goward MP.
This diverse cross-section of local community volunteers and government representatives will offer a comprehensive snapshot of our region. The presence of the Governor-General of the Commonwealth of Australia in the Hilltops region will be a momentous occasion and an opportunity to showcase the best that we have to offer; and I am really looking forward to it!
Hilltops Council was established on May 12, 2016 and includes the former council areas of Boorowa, Harden and Young in New South Wales.
The Council’s highest priority as a new council is to ensure we continue to deliver the many local services valued by our communities.
