Terry Holmes and Robert McGlynn of the Riverina Vietnam Veteran’s Reunion were recently presented a $500 cheque from the Young Services Club to go toward the annual reunion.
The reunion – to be hosted in Young this year – is expected to draw veteran’s from around the country.
Held over November 11 to 13 at the Young Services Club, the reunion will see veterans march up Boorowa and Main streets before conducting a ceremony at Anderson Park. Every ex-servicemen from all services are invited to attend the reunion.
The last reunion held in Young was back in 2010 when around 250 veterans attend the Friday night dinner.
Mr McGlynn said veterans come from all over Australia to attend the annual reunion which was held in Wagga last year, and Deniliquin in 2014. Plans are already in place for the group’s 40 year reunion to be held at Leeton in 2017.
Young Services Club supervisor, Sam Woods, wished the duo all the best on behalf of the club.
“The Young Services Club is always happy to donate to these community organisations,” he said.
Robert thanked the club for their support.
“Thank you very much, it’s very much appreciated,” he said. “It’s a huge boost as there’s a few dollars in kicking off the reunion.”
