WHILE some towns escaped the worst of the storm which lashed the Central West on Friday night others weren’t so lucky.
Wild winds and hail stones caused widespread damage, with Parkes, Forbes and Young copping the worst of the battering.
In Parkes a number of buildings were damaged and roads blocked due to fallen trees.
A significant part of the town was affected by an electricity outage due to downed power lines as a result of the 60km/h winds.
A shop on Forbes Road suffered structural damage when a wall collapsed, while another store, on Clarinda Street, also suffered severe structural damage.
Police from Lachlan Local Area Command responded to these incidents, with the State Emergency Service, Fire and Rescue NSW, and Rural Fire Service also providing resources.
According to weatherzone.com.au the forecast for this week is far brighter, with clear skies and temperatures of up to 19 degrees predicted through to the weekend.
