CWA President, Jenny Thompson had a jammed pack schedule for their meeting. After pausing for a moment silence to remember those who are ill, have passed away and those who have recently lost loved ones, Mrs Thompson welcomed everyone and introduced the CWA’s special guests.
Mrs Edwina Beveridge, a guest speaker, addressed the ups and downs of running a piggery. The piggery utilises food waste products as well as grain to feed the pigs. The effluent produced by the animals is used to generate methane which is used to generate electricity.
Jan Perrin won Best Recycled Item with her bassinet cover made from old scraps of material. Jan’s creation is now off to Sydney for state judging.
Winners were awarded for the Schools Poster Competition. The results were: Senior: 1st - Harvey Gay, 2nd - Stephen Piper, 3rd Ellie McMahon, Highly Commended - Riley Eccles and Madison Penrose. Junior: 1st - Ellie McIntosh, 2nd - Leila Cayfe, 3rd - Lucas and Jacob Cayfe, Highly Commended - Josh and Emma Craig.
President, Jenny declared all positions vacant and invited Mrs Gail Hayden to take the chair. Gail congratulated all branch and group office bearers for their work during the past year.

Four Vice Presidents: Mrs Jenny Thompson, Mrs Rose Adler, Mrs Yvonne Murphy and Mrs Norma Power.
It was decided that the group project will be The Women’s Refuge in Young. The medical research project will be Brain Cancer and the primary product is Pork. The branch handicraft project for 2017 is a wall hanging with the theme of ‘Trees.’ The Enid Smith trophy for increased membership was shared by Canimbla and Young. Jenny presented the new office bearers with their badges and Dawn Imber and Linda Willding were the winners in the competitions.
The next Council Meeting is December 5 at the CWA Rooms followed by Christmas lunch at the S&C Club.
