Division one ladder leaders Family Hotel Crusaders scored a thrilling final over victory over the Mimosa Whirlwinds in their South West Slopes Cricket League (SWSCL) clash in Temora last weekend.

League Secretary Kelly Meddings said supporters of both teams were riding every ball of the final over.
“The game was a heart stopper the result going down to the final over with Crusaders winning by only 4 runs,” she said.
“Matthew Berkrey top scored for Crusaders with 67 and Arty Stacey and Peter Stimson were the biggest run contributors for Mimosa on 46 and 41 respectively.”
In the other Division one game fifth-placed S and C Young Ones played second place Central Hotel Cavaliers at Albert Park.
Miss Meddings said the Young Ones did not get the start to the New Year they were looking for.
“It wasn't the start to 2017 the Young Ones were hoping for despite Captain Jason Hall top scoring on 66 not out and taking 4 for 30,” she said.
“The Young Ones only managed to score 101 runs and were defeated by the Cavaliers who easily reached 104 with four wickets in hand.”
In Division three a century from Josh Breust helped the Temora Ex-Services Renegades score 5/139 and go on to win their clash with the Criterion Gunners (7/133) at Cranfield Oval.
Miss Meddings said Breust played well and top scored for the Renegades.
“He helped his team get a winning total while newcomer Ethan Richens top scored for Gunners on 37,” she said.
Temora Bowling Club Tigers (8/103) got their first win of the season at home against Albion Hotel All-Stars who managed 7/84 off their allotted overs.
“It was the Tigers first win for the season and they’d be pretty happy because it was good old fashioned team effort,” she said.
There were only games in Division one and three last weekend as Division two had the bye.
This weekend all three divisions will play.
In other cricket news, the Young Representative cricket team started the new year off in a positive fashion with a win against Griffith last Sunday.
Miss Meddings said it was good to see Young captain Sam Langford accept the O'Farrell Cup from Griffith after their victory.
“The team played well and deserved the win,” she said.
“Sam opened the batting and he and Jeff Palmer got us off to a good start.
“Their next challenge is against Temora this Sunday at Cranfield Oval.
“Young must win that game to retain the cup or we hand it over to Temora.”
