News of Bradley Breward’s death broke on Friday when two men were charged with his murder.
Police then found a body they believed to be Mr Breward in Lake Eugenana in the North-West on Friday night.
The 22-year-old hadn’t been seen or heard from since New Year’s and police were not notified of his disappearance until January 17.
Friends and family took to social media at the weekend to remember the “cheeky” father-of-one.
Jessica Cadman, who is understood to have first reported Mr Breward missing to police, described him as her soul-mate.
“It hurts so much and thanks so much to your mum [and] dad for bringing you into the world, without them I wouldn't of had you in my life,” she wrote.
Another friend, Chelsea Garside, shared her grief from Queensland after discovering the devastating news through social media.
Describing the last time she saw Mr Breward, she said she was feeling heartbroken.
“I just never would of imagined it would be our last goodbye … [a] seven-year friendship and all I can do is put up a Facebook status to say goodbye to one of my oldest friends, [it] just doesn't seem right,” she said.
“The past few days you've really been in my thoughts, and its made me realise just how big of a role you played in my life, you were just always there. And I just can’t imagine a world without you in it. Endless memories, laughs, tears and even fights.
“Your positive attitude was like no other Brad, and you pulled me out of sad times more than once. People like you are hard to come by and I feel so privileged to have had you in my life. Never, ever will there be another like you.”
Alex Hennessey described Mr Breward as “one of the nicest and laid back blokes”.
“I still kept some hope in my heart that you'd just dropped off the radar and were laying low … even now I still don't want to believe it but I guess that's just my own coping mechanism because reading the news absolutely broke me,” he said.
Mr Breward is survived by his four-year-old son Jaxon Breward.
Police have charged 25-year-old Ricky John Izard, of South Launceston, and 41-year-old Mark Rodney Jones, of West Launceston, with Mr Breward’s alleged killing.
The two men appeared in an out-of-hours court sitting on Friday night and were remanded to reappear on Monday at 2.15pm.
Investigations into Mr Breward’s death are ongoing and anybody with information should contact Tasmania Police on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers anonymously on 1800 333 000.
