Now in his early 30’s Hatch now resides in Western Australia and is clearly still a keen golfer after taking to the greens of Young Golf Club as a junior.
The finals of the Western Australian Amateur Matchplay championship were played over 36 holes last weekend with Hatch well and truly in the match after the first 18 holes.
His opponent and overall winner kept the pressure on during the first nine of the final 18 holes and Hatch could not match him, resulting in Hatch’s none-the-less impressive runner-up in the championships.
Nonetheless a great effort and it was terrific to see him playing and playing well.
When Hatch was a junior at the Young Golf Club and a fresh faced 12-year-old he shot a 73 off the stick and played well for a number of years before he moved to Western Australia.
Back in Young last weekend Young Golf Club’s Saturday event was sponsored by Allan Moore and Grant Harding.
Sunday Young Golf Club hosted the Young Saints AFL four person Ambrose.
The event attracted 77 players and was considered to be a successful day for all involved.
Next Saturday the Young Golf Club’s single stableford will be sponsored by Kim Watson and Watson Toyota.
Sunday’s Young Golf Club event will be a medley ball sweepstakes.
All players in the matchplay championship are asked by the club to play their first round match by April 2.
