A counterfeit fifty dollar note was passed to a retailer in Young last week according to Cootamundra Local Area Command Police.

Police are urging retailers to be vigilant after the fake fifty dollar note was passed at a Young business on Saturday May 13.
Cootamundra LAC Detective Inspector Scott Wilkinson said the counterfeit bill passed cursory scrutiny.
“The note looked normal on first glance however it was easily identified as counterfeit on closer inspection,” he said.
“This incident is under investigation by Young Police and we will be reviewing CCTV footage and forensic evidence in an effort to identify the person of interest.
"We are also asking for the local community to assist us.
"Any information could be useful to the investigation, even if it may have seemed insignificant at the time."
