Both aircraft have spilt chemicals and fuel; the situation is dangerous in the extreme.
Young Emergency Services conducted a training exercise at Young Airport last weekend with this scenario, and according to Sergeant Paul Colefax, it was an unmitigated success.
Personnel from NSW Police, NSW Fire and Rescue, NSW Ambulance, NSW RFS, NSW SES and the Australian Transport and Safety Bureau practising their skills and response capability to the simulated emergency.
Cootamundra LAC Sergeant Paul Colefax said the aim of the exercise was to test how the various services crews can coordinate in an emergency.
"Our objectives were to test interagency cooperation and communication and give our members some practice in responding to a major incident," he said.
