Young Public School’s PSSA tennis team travelled to Sydney last week to compete in the state finals of the Todd Woodbridge Cup.
Though the side didn’t bring home the silverware they did do their school and their town proud.
“It is an amazing effort for the Young Public School team to make it to the state finals,” Young Tennis Centre and the Young Public School coach Colin Maher said.
“After their work in the regionals they have been and granulated on their effort to get to the final after competing against 200 plus teams in various parts of the Southwest region."
The side made up of students from Year three and four faced off with some tough competition. To cap off an experience after winning a few matches the team got to meet Australian doubles and six time Wimbledon champion, tennis legend Todd Woodbridge making the competition one they will surely remember for years to come.
“The team from Young Public has trained very hard over the last five to six weeks in their preparations for this event,” Maher said.
