Johnson’s family posted on Facebook Wednesday morning encouraging those in attendance to wear jeans, boots and something purple – Samara’s favourite colour – and to celebrate Samara’s life during the service at 11am next Tuesday and also asked in lieu of flowers donations be made to the National Jockeys Trust at http://www.njt.org.au/.
Samara was well known around Young’s horse community and locals who have shared memories of the much loved and respected 25-year-old have all painted a picture of a genuine down-to-earth woman who worked hard and lived and breathed for her horses, family and friends.
Samara most recently had a hugely successful day at the Burrangong Picnic Races in October where the jockey rode home two placegetters and two winners including the Burrangong Cup winner Liabilityadjuster.
