Awards were presented by Event Co-ordinator Joan Dwyer who commented on how impressed the judges were by the standard of entries.
“Judging is never easy and the task was made very difficult by so many good efforts,” she said.
Fellowship of Australian Writers president Ted Webber said he was pleased with the entries.
“We worked with local schools to encourage students to submit entries and we owe a big thank you to all of the teachers involved,” he said.
“Our open section numbers were slightly down this year, but the standard was very high. This is our 35th competition and with the magic of electronic communication, we have developed a nationwide following, leading to many entries coming interstate.
“A competition of this size could not happen without sponsors and we thank the South West Slopes Credit Union for their support and encouragement.”
