2017 school leavers received their Higher School Certificate (HSC) results on Thursday December 14 with some local students staying up until results were posted online so they could celebrate and commiserate results.
On Friday students who applied also received their Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) with the former pupils then able to make decisions on courses and universities and the big decisions on their future.
Students awarded an ATAR higher or lower than expected may be in a position where they can or need to change their university course preferences based on their results to ensure they have applied for the degrees they want at the universities they desire.
They then have just two days to change preferences for main December 2 Round university offers made through the University Admissions Centre (UAC).
The UAC deadline to change course preferences for the December 2 Round is midnight, December 17.
A majority of 2017 NSW HSC students will receive university offers on December 21.
January Round 1 offers are released by UAC on January 21.
Whether enrolling then taking a gap year or heading to tertiary study in 2018, school leavers have the opportunity to have all of their questions answered by academics, support staff and senior university students before UAC preferences close thanks to live chats and information days held by many universities on their website and on location.
