Race one
The Michael Hawke trained Crime Time driven by Amanda Turbull claimed the major end of the prize, defeating Studleigh Stride and Zaras Dance.
All three placegetters were purchased at the highly regarded annual event, Crime Time realised $12,000, Studleigh Stride was purchased for $5,000 and Zaras Dance was knocked down for $27,000 going to Kriden Investments.
Power To Bolt which finished sixth was purchased by the Hollingsworth brothers at Goulburn for $30,000.
This year the sales will be held at the new selling complex on Wednesday February 28.
Race two
Race two proved a popular win for Grenfell reinsman Mark Hewitt with the six-year-old gelding Mickilla Express for owners Michael Hunter and Alan Johnson.
A winner now of seven races, the Strong Life pacer defeated Taylah Studleigh and Allnight Raid by a convincing three metre margin and a mile rate of 2:01.3.
Race three
The first of two “Dead Heats” featured in race three with the minor placegetters unable to be separated by the officials.
The winner of the race, Destiny Warrior, driven by Mitch Turnbull ran a mile rating of 1:56.5, just outside the track record, to defeat the dead heaters Hez Razor Sharp and Sonny Studleigh in thrilling finish.
Locally trained Bettorbetbig ran an eye catching first up fourth after a lengthy spell and could be one to follow.
Race four
Bathurst driver Amanda Turnbull drove her second winner of the night behind the highly fancied Moon OvrManhattan.
The four-year-old American Ideal mare was always in control of the race and went on to defeat a determined Annie Matilda driven by Rodney Blythe and paying $10.10 for the place with Hurrysound taking third money ahead of current track record holder Comet Stride driven by Blake Micallef.
Another Fireball finished fifth and has now been officially retired to the breeding barn being 120 days along the road to motherhood.
Race five
Dubbo trainer Brad Piesley provided the winner of race five with Jogalong Dee, driven by Jason Turnbull, scoring a four metre win over the unlucky Soho Beijing and the more favoured Milwaukee Volo in a mile rating of 2:00.8 for the 2100 metre event.
Race six
Jake and Leigh Davis made the trip from Browns Creek and collected the cash with Studleigh Kristen in race six.
Junee pacer Spooky Dreams gave a great sight to finish second for trainer Molly Turton while Monique Parsons set the pace before finishing third in what was an interesting race.
Race seven
The second dead heat of the night occurred in race seven, this time the judge could not separate the eventual dual winners, Cobbity Conquest and Myanga Sportsgirl.
Drivers Mat Rue and Bernie Hewitt both were hoping for a split decision but that was not to be and it was a case of photos all round for the excited connections.
Third placing went to Julenjode driven by Amanda Turnbull making it a Bathurst trifecta.
Race eight
Bigga trainer and driver Dennis Picker provided the winner of race eight with the resuming Kiss Cam who was impressive in his first race start since July 27, 2016, eighteen months away from the track was a fantastic effort from the five-year-old gelding.
Minor placings included the fast finishing Park Run for Ray Turner and Ruth Shannon for Peter Bullock and McKayler Barnes.
Race nine
Odds on favourite Some Waratah failed to blossom in the final race of the night finishing last after sitting outside the leader and looking confident at the bell.
Driver Bruce Harpley could provide no answers to the poor performance and no doubt a trip to the vet will be on the cards in coming days.
Winner of the race Artsterical was happy to take the winners cheque and a TAB dividend of $20.00 in taking out his second race win from twenty-six starts and placegetters Shazam Shannon and Spanish Lustre likewise accepted the cheques with great gratitude.
Favourite backers, although finishing square with the card will still scratch their heads in disbelief at the performance of the well bred gelding who won here on this track two starts back.
Coming up races
Young will race again on Tuesday February 27, 2018 followed by the Carnival Of Cups on Saturday March 10.
