The locally owned Road To Vegas continued his good form winning again at Exhibition Park in Canberra last Sunday evening under the control of Scott Osmond.
Wombat Mayor Mick Prest did it again, as only he can do, getting a long priced winner at Junee with his new stable acquisition East On Broadway driven by Nic Dewar who only recently returned from a trip to America, now there’s a coincidence.
Jason Grimson made the trip over the mountain on Sunday with Ima Jaymar and Don’t Think Twice and as expected was successful with both locally owned pacers.
Don’t Think Twice certainly took full advantage over the handicap conditions to take out the feature race after allowing the field to settle down early and circum navigating the field in the middle stages and setting a solid pace to record a comfortable win.
A start in the Young Carnival Of Cups meeting may now be a possibilty.
The Monteagle duo of David and Blake Micallef have been knocking on the door with numerous minor placings and with rain predicted, the draft may soon be over for the young driver and his mentor.
Young will returning to racing next Tuesday night, February with nominations closing at 9:30am on Thursday February 22.
The club will then gear up for the feature meeting of the season to be held on Saturday night March 10.
The highlight meeting of the season will include the $30,500.00 Young Cup for C6 and better pacers over 2480 metres.
The Young Oaks for the fillies will carry prize money of $20,400.00 as will the Young Three-Year-Old Derby, both races to be run over 2100 metres.
All other races on the program will carry total prize money of $9,180.
Always a top night of racing, the Carnival Of Cups meeting will once again attract some of the best pacers in country NSW and the club will be hoping for strong support from the community of young and surrounding towns to hopefully secure the future of racing at the iconic Young track.
