The Pickers were missing a few regulars but hit the ground running. Mark Hills and Braxon Anderson dominated the middle with huge tackles and barnstorming runs. This led to quick play with the ball and captain Cooper Smith slicing through the defence. Young defended well again and really worked hard for each other.
Hardy Glover was dominating at five-eight and creating space for the backs. Cowra never stopped competing and a late try to Edward Maloney sealed the victory for Young.
We had two trophies each for best player from each side – one picked by the opposition and one from us. Young’s went to Riley Butcher and Cooper Smith. Tries: Sam Schilt, Cooper Smith and Edward Maloney. Goals went to Cooper Smith and Marcus Ashton. The final score was Young 16 – Cowra 6.
